First Tuesday Benefit
$1,121,000 Donated to Local Charities… and Climbing!
To say you are a part of the neighborhood is one thing, but to put your money where your mouth is and give back to the neighborhoods is quite another. We believe that we have been very blessed and that it is our honor to share our good fortune with others. Here are some of the things that we do that we are most proud of:
First Tuesday Benefit – On the First Tuesday of each month, every one of our stores hosts a First Tuesday Benefit. Each store chooses a local charity and donates 15% of the entire day’s sales to that charity. We began this program right after the tragic events of 9/11. We realized that many local charities struggled for funding as most all charitable giving at that time went towards helping the victims and cities of that tragedy. Since its inception, we have given back over $1,121,000 to charities that help Folks and a few animals(!) that need a helping hand.
Cup of Hope – when tragedy strikes our neighborhoods or the neighborhoods of our vendor partners we often jump in to help with our “Cup of Hope” in which we donate all sales from every cup of gumbo or soup sold over a certain date range. We have donated tens of thousands of dollars to assist the victims of such disasters as hurricanes, tornadoes, fires and floods.
Fish City Cares – not only do we give to our neighborhoods, we give to each other. The Fish City Cares fund was established after Hurricane Harvey. Team Members donate their own money to help fellow Team Members who were stricken by tragedy and who need a little help to get their lives back in order.
