Even the oysters are excited! November 2, Fish City Grill and Half Shells will host the fourth annual Oyster Eating Contest to kick off OysterFest and the 2013 oyster season. Proceeds from this year’s oyster eating contest will benefit No Kid Hungry.
“We have a blast every year kicking off OysterFest with the oyster eating contest,” says Fish City Grill owner Bill Bayne. “It’s a perfect opportunity to come out, have some fun and give back to the community while eating oysters all day and enjoying great company.”
The Oyster Eating Contest pits teams of four against one another for two minutes of oyster eating with each team member slurping pre-shucked oysters for 30 seconds. Teams are required to pledge a minimum of $300, and all proceeds from the contest will be donated to No Kid Hungry. The winning team receives a cash prize of $2,000, and bragging rights, of course.
Contestants and attendees will enjoy live music and craft beer from St. Arnold’s Brewery. The event will be held at Fish City Grill in Las Colinas located at 7750 North MacArthur #160, Irving, Texas 75063 from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 2 with the eating contest starting at 3 p.m. Contestants must submit their application by happy hour (5 p.m.) on Friday, November 1 to Gje Greene at email@example.com.
